제가 생각보다 훨씬 오래 걸렸어요. 초반엔 많은 초보자들처럼 계속 전략, 지표, 시장, 시간대 등을 바꿨고, 손실이 날 때마다 뭔가 새로운 게 필요하다고 느꼈죠. 제가 생각하기에 진짜 궁금한 건, 새로 배우는 것보다는 그걸 제대로 평가하는 법을 배우는 데 더 시간을 써야 한다는 거예요. 기본적인 통계, 데이터 모델링, 시험 방법, 리스크 관리가 대부분의 트레이딩 내용보다 훨씬 도움이 됩니다. 실제로 어떤 전략이 우위를 갖고 있는지 판단하는 능력은 어떤 시장, 어떤 전략에도 적용할 수 있는 중요한 기술이죠. 남의 전략에 의존할 필요 없이 자신만의 전략을 만들고 평가하는 법을 아는 게 더 낫습니다. 그리고 나면 한 시장과 한 방식을 골라서, 무엇이 효과적인지 시험하는 과정을 만들어 집중해야 해요.

Early on I did what a lot of newer traders do: constantly switching strategies, indicators, markets, and timeframes. Every drawdown felt like evidence that I needed something new.
To answer what I think your real question is - if I were still early on, I'd spend less time "learning" new setups or ways of trading and more time learning how to actually evaluate them.
Basic statistics and data modelling, testing methodologies, and risk management will take you much further than most trading content. Understanding how to determine whether something actually has an edge is a skill that applies to any market and any strategy.
You don't need someone else's setup if you understand how to develop and evaluate your own.
From there, I'd pick one market and one approach, then focus on building a process for testing what works and what doesn't.

A lot longer than expected, the main change is when I realised less time should go on pointless backtesting - and more on meaningful backtesting and a proper focus on forward testing
I haven’t been profitable for long but it’s been consistent since that shift.
It’s also why a friend and I have been working on building a fully automated backtesting platform, where you can type the strategy in plain english and it gets back tested. It’s a cool product and super handy for exploring new ideas spontaneously!
