Its like saying you can be any professional you want using youtube. There is a higher learning curve in actively trading vs watching someone present you how he trade (or fake trade)

Different strategies for different market conditions. There is no one strategy.

Don't believe idiots who tell you that strategy is only a fraction of what it needs to be profitable. If that would be the case then everybody would be handing out profitable strategies like its bubble gum. Yes psychology is very important but it is useless when you don't have an edge.

Finding strategies with a strong edge is an insanely hard task. Either you find a credible mentor that teaches you but be ready to pay thousands od dollars for it and you are still at risk to getting scammed, or you will have to figure this stuff out on your own through experimentation, backtesting and experience (believe me, this takes years)

Since we are in a daytrading sub I have to recommend orderflow and auction market theory. Price action (Momentum, rejection candles, support/resistance) is still very valuable but it's not enough in my opinion. Look into Carmine Rosato, Andrea Cimi and Fabio Valentini to find out more. And maybe give the free course from "the flow horse" on youtube a chance. This one is really great and provides incredibly deep knowledge for free.

The problem with the market is that it is dynamic. It changes their behaviour all the time. It is very advantageous to also be dynamic at least to some degree. If you have a momentum strategy like breakout strategy and you apply it in a choppy environment without momentum and prolonged trends you will get f***** until the market changes its behaviour in your strategies favour again. That is why it is adviseable to develop a mean reversion strategy and a trend following or breakout strategy and apply them in the right market environment

your strategy is 90% of it. if you have a strategy that is properly tested to be consistent and have a strong positive expectancy...if your method is proven to work, the "psychology" side is way easier. it would be surprising if anybody were to actually share a winning strategy, and if they did, for it to actually be properly observed.

Real trading skill can only be built over time by going through the motions and building experience by (paper) trading the actual market. There are a million different strategies out there, each good and bad in their own way. If you're looking for something purely mechanical, you might want to look into grid trading bots, but using those you will not actually build skills of your own.

Quitting your job to learn how to trade is questionable. But nonetheless, my advice is to change the way you’re backtesting. What do you mean you backtest and it’s garbage? How many trades/ days are you testing this over? You can’t pick up a football one time and say you’re trash. That’s determined over a series of multiple games. I’d start there. Quantify it.
