Cant confirm in the equities market but I know in foreign exchange markets this is definitely true. Thats why many people who trade reversals or breakouts, etc end up failing especially on shorter time frames. It’s a lot harder for manipulation to occur on a daily or weekly time frame but people don’t trade those because its “boring”. Thats why these trading youtube channels who call themselves scalpers, are disingenuous. Because price whipsaws so much, it’s extremely difficult to be profitable year over year. Now in the equities market, a lot of time the market is dictated by the Indexes. Then the sectors, which then leads to individuals stocks. I wouldn’t doubt it, that with a ton of algorithmic trading capabilities out there, that it “hunts” stop losses. I find it to be very common, as a trend trader, where I will see something go against me very fast, but because I have a looser SL, it allows me to not be stopped out and benefit from the direction I believed to have been correct. The position going against me took out all the people on shorter time frames trading a weaker trend, and it takes out the people trading reversals because the longer term trend is stronger. That is why I will NEVER trade reversals or solely rely on support and resistance. If people don’t think the majority aren’t seeing and doing the same thing, and institutions and algo’s don’t see it, they’re delusional. This is why a lot of people’s strategy fail at trading. You if you are apart of the majority, you will end up like the majority. Theres an incentive to NOT let financial markets be easy because then everyone would do it and there would be no one to serve the rich & wealthy with low socioeconomic jobs.

If you short-term trade according to conventional rules, and set your stops in obvious places, you'll get hunted for sure.  But if you're a short-short term trader, there is no way to be hunted.  Plus I don't set stops, at least not in the conventional way. Mostly mental stops or plateau stops.

Nope. It is just a game you properly need to learn to play... nothing more.
