Maybe just start by buying shares before you lose all of your money my friend. Very few day traders are profitable

If you have second thoughts, walk away immediately! If you decide to continue trading, remind yourself that YOU signed up for this. This is not something you can just understand in a month as it could potentially take a couple years for you to catch on. If you chose to continue trading, every winner and loser ultimately comes from your entry and exit you choose.

Didn’t know what I was getting myself into until I was down so much money. Just now making it back after two years…. If you continue your trading journey, please stick with one sector of the market ex: penny stocks, futures, options, etc and ONLY short or long a stock. Whatever you choose, you should watch price action for the entire session for numerous days until you can identify what occurs regularly. Make sure to pick a couple reputable mentors online that has reliable content of your choosing. Avoid smaller timeframes until you can develop a strategy on higher time frames. Keep your position BELOW $30 until you have physical proof your strategy works otherwise you WILL lose all of your money. Speaking from experience because I went from trading every stock that popped up to sitting on my hands until I can identify my setup. Hopefully this helps and good luck you’re going to need it :)

I use take profit trader. With a promo code, you can have fairly cheap barrier to entry. If you blow your account you are only out your test account fee.

The only down side to prop accounts that I can think of is:

1. The time it takes you to pass the test
2. The profit split (80/20).

The test rules will force you to be a good trader. (Base hits).

Right now, prop firms are dominating the daytrading business so futures scslping is popular....but that might change now that PDT rule is being phased out

Don't start

Like others are saying this is very hard… but not impossible. Don’t start daytrading start swing trading. There is a lot to learn. Before trade all their money before learning and then get salty about trading. Trading is like starting a business or trying to become a professional chess player or body builder or whatever performance thing. It’s hard. It’s takes ALL of you to succeed. You need life imbalance to succeed at trading. You put everything on not priority list that is not trading. If you are not type A personality don’t even think about it. Pick something else.

Hey there. My advice is to start learning about coding and statistics! That was the turning point in becoming a profitable trader for me. Before that I spent years listening to gurus, chart-reading and backtesting by hand with absolutely zero success.

I recommend reading 'Testing and tuning market trading systems' by Timothy Masters. It covers a lot of useful methods for strategy development and evaluation. I use techniques from that book in every backtest. Paper trade and journal for at least a year every single day until you have a profitable strategy then start small with your own capital or prop firm. Realize this shit takes at least a couple years to figure out because the true nature of trading is way more complicated than buy low sell high.

Take the money you plan to trade with, and just light it on fire. It’ll save you a lot of time and headache.

People say start trading with paper. I firmly disagree with that. The best way is to use "throw away" money and dive right in. There are very good tutorials online that can show you the basics, but the only real way to learn is do it.

Don’t do it lol. Just DCA into index funds please for the love of god
