It means your strategy needs improvement. You need to spend more time learning. I have had one bad week in trading and I immediately went and learned everything I could and I haven’t lost more than 2% on a trade since. I always see loss as “there’s something I don’t know”

Not only is a red day every day of the week possible, but you can also have multiple red weeks or even months in a row as well, especially as an inexperienced trader, but even sometimes as an experienced & overall profitable one. Beyond that though, many traders go through a “beginner’s luck” phase in the first few weeks/months (ironically I never did, but many do), but then eventually the reality of their inexperience sets in and it sort of catches up, leading to long and often brutal losing streaks and spiraling. So yeah, it’s normal.

I feel you, it’s the same for me. I started I February and we managed to start in the most difficult market. Just got curb stomped on a trade that should’ve been “safe” with a huge stop loss. But The news about Israel being ready to nuke Iran again dropped…

Depends what you are trading and what your strategy is. SP500 has been in a straight clear as day consolidation range all week. If you are trying to trade breakouts in this market enviroment you are going to get destroyed. On the other hand if you have been trading the consolidation zone edges it has been an easy trading week. Market enviroment (is the overall market on the higher timeframes trending or consolidation) matters more than anythign else when trading. If the market is consolidationg (moving sideways) then breakout entries are not going to work very well and reversal strategies work great. When price is trending reversal strategies get destroyed and breakout strategies work well. What seperates profitable traders from losing ones is the ability to recognize the current market conditions and use strategies that work in that market.

Your question lacks specifics contextual insight so this answer will be a bit general but still relevant. I have 36+ years under my belt and I have this to hold true over the years. Having no knowledge about your strategy, I’ll advise you to test your strategy against different market conditions, instruments and the sessions traded. Some methods of trading produces positive returns because conditions are more favorable and well adapted to confirmations and confluences of the strategy. Whatever your strategy, you have to establish the rules and parameters and adhere to them.

We are in the middle of a Global Oil crisis. You are competing with a market that's moving during a geopolitical event. It's more than likely not you. The market is globally reacting defensively. The VIX and the Oil index are in panic status. The markets right now are staged to hunt retail capital. This isn't to scare you in your experience. Monitor your market environment and conditions before trading. If it looks like shit. Cut away.

Four red days in a row is rough but its not unusual. Especially if youre still figuring out what works. I had a stretch like that a couple months in. Three losses in a week and I almost walked away. Thought I was doing everything wrong. Turned out I wasnt doing everything wrong. I was just in a stretch where the setups I was taking werent working. Happens. The thing I had to learn is one good week doesnt mean youve got it figured out and one bad week doesnt mean youre done. Its a longer game than that. If your rules still make sense to you then stick with them and keep tracking what happens. If they dont make sense then thats a different problem. Either way dont let four days wreck your head. Step back if you need to.
