일론 머스크가 한창 인기가 많았을 때 초기 투자자 같은 기대는 잘못된 것 같습니다. 실제로 일할 때, SpaceX가 신기하던 시절, 테슬라가 BYD에 밀리기 전, 이런 시절의 투자자들은 지금도 존재하는지 의문입니다. 중국이 재사용 가능한 우주선 기술을 따라잡고 있고 SpaceX가 경쟁 없이 더 오래 머물기 어려운 상황입니다. 이번 상장으로 돈을 버는 사업은 사실상 SpaceX 본체뿐이고 나머지 프로젝트들은 거의 적자나 꿈에 불과하다고 봅니다.

I think they are making a mistake expecting "early" type of Musk investor from when he was popular.

ya know - when he actually worked, before ~14 kids, when space x was exciting, before tesla lost to BYD, before zig heil, before his extremists touched everyones ssn numbers (and did who knows else with our data, exfiltrated? stole it? who knows). but do these people exist now?

china is catching up on reusable flights, and space x unlikely stay without competition. only product making money in a "space x ipo" is a space x, grok/X are money pits, everything else in that package just straight up losing money or outright ketamine fantasizes (asteroid mining, mars etc).

여기서는 시장 상승을 싫어하는 분위기가 강한 것 같습니다. 그런데 다른 곳에서는 어쨌든 큰 기업 상장이라 관심이 큽니다. 여기 부정적 시선은 오히려 반대 방향인 느낌이에요. 밸류에이션이 말이 안 된다는 의견도 있는데, 많은 기업이 고평가된 상태입니다. 얼마 전에 나온 CBRS 상장도 가격이 두 배 가까이 뛰었지요. 개인적으로는 아예 사지 않고 다른 종목을 찾았고요. 그동안 여기서 개인 주식보다는 인덱스 펀드 투자 추천이 많았는데, SpaceX가 인덱스 펀드의 1%가 되자 일부는 인덱스 펀드를 다 팔고 있습니다. 저는 SpaceX 지분이 포함된 SATS를 사서 수익을 냈고, 상장 이후 상황에 따라 일부나 전부를 매도할 생각입니다.

Elsewhere: people are going to be interested like any other big name IPO.

The amount of negative focus that it's gotten on Reddit is to the point of feeling very "inverse Reddit."

" valuation doesnt make sense"

Valuations are high for tons of things. The CBRS ipo the other week was absolutely absurd - I was slightly interested around the neighborhood of the original pricing, but it opens at about 2x that. I didn't buy any (although Cathie certainly did with her Ark funds) and it is what it is - didn't get any, started looking for another idea instead. At the rate it's going though, I might be able to buy it around the original pricing sooner than later.

So many people have responded "just index and forget it" over the years to people on here talking about individual stocks but SpaceX becoming 1% of their index fund and they're "SELLING ALL THEIR INDEX FUNDS."

Am long SATS given the SpaceX holdings and bought about when that deal was announced. Did well, took some profit already and will probably sell either most of the position or all of the position into the IPO depending on how it opens.
