I honestly just do it to stay busy and have something to do . I research, demo trade, watch vids etc . I even bought a couple of courses etc.. Everyone has a hobby, and most hobbies cost money. At least this one might make us money one day. I am profitable by the way (I think), it took me about 4-5 years but I'm still not funded yet. I trade a small cash account. Just don't rush to trade real money. Take your time.

You will most likely make a few lucky trades which will boost your confidence right before you lose all your money, rinse and repeat... when you go to a casino you 'know' the odds are against you, they post it for everyone to see by law, retail traders aren't told the deck is stacked, the majority of them think they stand just as good a chance as the house, they just need a better system, study harder, do more paper trading, etc.. the reality is every time a retail trader sits down at his computer he is playing chess with Grandmasters who have been training to do this job their whole life, most likely it won't even be a human who empties his wallet, sadly your odds are better playing blackjack, but they don't want you to know that.

It’s not easy, at all, but if trading appeals to you as a career then it’s worth it just like spending time working on any other career is worth it.
You’ve probably heard stats that say something like 90% of traders fail. This is probably somewhat accurate but the reason for that isn’t that trading is some nigh on impossible skill to develop, it’s that aspiring traders typically want easy riches and don’t put in the work that is required to develop and consistently trade a profitable strategy.
If you want to do this then it will take something like 2000-4000 hours of real work before you will be capable of making money consistently. That work starts out as learning concepts, then testing concepts to gather data, then analysing that data to develop a trading plan that you can then take into a forward testing phase before you eventually start trading live with a small amount of capital.
It’s a real grind. It’s difficult. It takes time.
If you can apply yourself and do the work to find consistent profitability then you have a skill set that should last a lifetime and provide you the ability to have both time freedom and a relatively high income.

Trading is very hard, but not rocket science. Only 3 to 5 percent of traders are profitable in the long run. So, not everyone does it or are in profit. I was in negative for 5 years. In 2025 I finally got my money back. I would say start with small capital for practice and read books, watch videos and take free courses and have basic understanding before going all in. Good luck potential is huge.
