2025년 7월부터 투자를 시작했는데, 초반에는 틱톡에서 유행하는 종목에 휩쓸려 꽤 큰 손실을 봤습니다. 그 이후로는 관심 가는 기업들에 대해 깊이 공부하면서 스스로의 투자 논리를 계속 검증하는 데 재미를 느끼고 있습니다.
설명하긴 어렵지만, 스스로의 가설을 깨보려다 결국 더 확신을 갖게 되는 과정이 정말 흥미롭습니다.

저도 정말 즐깁니다. 그래서 올해 S&P500보다 수익률이 낮았지만 개인 증권사 계좌로 계속 투자할 생각이에요. 연습과 자기 성찰이 필요한 취미로 보고 있어서요. 물론 실제 은퇴 계좌는 광범위한 인덱스 펀드나 뮤추얼 펀드에 넣어두고 있습니다.

I definitely do enjoy it. Hence why even though I underperformed the sp500 this year I will keep investing on my own with a brokerage, because i see it as a hobby requiring practice and introspection for improvement. Its a fun challenge. All of my actual retirement accounts are broad based index/mutual funds though.

Genuinely interested doesn’t even scratch the surface. I spent over a decade as a financial advisor at a top investment research firm, and I still track earnings for 500-600 companies. This isn’t a hobby — it’s how I think. What I love most is the mosaic. A CEO drops a comment in an earnings call about supply chain flexibility or pricing power, and six months later you see it show up in a competitor’s margin compression. Most people read one transcript. I’m cross-referencing three or four — the company, its rivals, its upstream partners. The signal is usually there well before the market prices it in. Research isn’t something I do. It’s something I genuinely can’t turn off.

수십 년간 투자해왔는데 대부분은 주식 공부가 싫습니다. 오직 진짜 기회가 왔을 때만 투자하고, 그때는 집착 수준이 되죠. 좋은 회사의 주가가 지나치게 하락했을 때까지 몇 달 혹은 몇 년 기다리는 스타일입니다.

Decades long investor. Most of the time, I hate researching stocks. But I only invest when there’s a genuine sale, THEN it becomes an obsession. My investing style is to wait months or years a great companies with great revenue goes on sale because they are ridiculously oversold.

I research things heavily before I make a purchase or decision. I got into photography a couple years ago and spent like 2 months researching everything about cameras. I like to make sure I'm making the best decision available. But inevitably I lose interest, don't buy anything and start researching my next hyper fixation. I had an epiphany a couple weeks ago that I just enjoy researching, learning, and finding value in things. Investing allows me to focus on my interests while having a positive outcome on my life if I do the work to the best of my ability.

That's true, and the joy comes when they perform as you analysed when everyone is shit scared of the stock going down but you know it's just temporary market reaction and soon it will just go up.
