Crypto sucks and is for suckers imo. Trading usually takes 2+ years to learn. Stocks are (imo) a great way to go, but plenty of people trade commodities (e.g. gold), ETFs (e.g. SPY) or Futures (e.g. /ES) with success. Trading with $100,000 is much easier than trading with $500. Growing a small account is tough.

I've been trading 30+ years. 25 for banks and funds (FX derivs and Rate Swaps) the rest as a hobby in retirement. Last year I made a 25% return and I am INSANELY HAPPY WITH IT. Any of my employers would have been insanely happy with it as well. 99% of trading you see on social media is simply scam content designed to keep suckers churning their accounts.

The question isn’t if you can make money, the question is can “YOU” make money. There’s soooo many variables that you will encounter between now and then. The best thing to do is to treat trading as going to school for a degree. It will take years and even then there’s no guarantee. The question “what’s best between stock or crypto” shows me your at the very beginning and that’s why your not getting the answer your looking for. There is no “best” just what one prefers wether it’s crypto, stock, futures, forex or options etc. Can it be done to turn 200 into 2000, sure it is. Can it then turn into a monthly income to live off of? Sure people have and do do that…

Start trading on paper. It’s very common for beginners to blow an account, or 2, or 3. Education is expensive. Learn everything you can, watch YouTube videos, read etc. Good luck to you.

So I just got back into trading, so take this with a grain or salt. I put $150 into my account. I trade options and from may 1st to today may 12th my account is now at $700, basically I just do 0tde options and scalping them. So you can do it. Just know you will br crucified by the people in this thread for trying

Can you? Sure. Will you? Probably not.

If you can consistently make 10% a month on average, you would already be among the best traders in the world. On a $200 account, that’s only $20 a month. Now ask yourself: what are the odds of becoming one of the best traders in the world? The chances of success in trading are already extremely low. The odds of performing at elite level consistently are even lower. So yes, meaningful income usually requires meaningful capital. Most of the social media content showing people turning a few hundred dollars into thousands consistently is either gambling-level risk, survivorship bias, misleading marketing, or outright fantasy. And the people who actually turned small accounts into large ones? Most of them already had years, often a decade or more, of experience, failure, refinement, and usually significant prior profitability before they pulled it off. It also rarely happened in a single attempt. The problem is: you do not start with 10 years of consistent profitable experience. And after 10 years, if you actually become consistently profitable, you likely will not need to start with tiny capital anymore.

You can trade micro futures with ninja trader but need 500 and really 1000 is better.

Trading is hard only 3% are profitable traders. It's much easier to make money in sports prediction market, Kalshi app is great.

Trading is a zero sum game. If you want to finish the day with profit you have to be better than a million of people. Probably much more. But you can try maybe you have a gift for it. There is also futures trading, maybe the easiest is to buy challenge at prop firm like Topstep and see for yourself

If youre okay with starting over and over again options have good leverage for low capital (atleast spy and qqq) or a funded account with futures . Small caps are where I started and got wreck now I have a low cap live account that I trade qqq and spy options (just an experiment reallt) and a funded account to trade futures to do both what you have is enough

If you had an edge, a fully built trading plan and the correct mindset, you wouldn't be asking this question you'd be trading and with more than 200. After the pdt rule change takes effect maybe you can trade with 2k but starting with 200 is just begging to fail

I mean you could make a few bucks here and there but it’s more statistically likely you would lose it, especially because you basically can’t average down with that amount of capital. If you’re starting with $200 you absolutely will not be trading full time in 2 years that’s for sure. Minimum of $1000 would be my recommendation.

No. You cannot. Absolutely cannot. Start with atleast 1000 on CFD and don’t expect anything out of it for 5 years.

80-90% fail at daytrading. Sometimes most wanna be traders will try for years losing money until they give up. Can it be done you ask, of course but most fail. Read these 2 books "traders traps" and "the mental game of trading" these give answers as to why most fail. If you treat trading as a business then you have a chance.
