제 엣지는 스스로 정한 거래 한계를 알고 그걸 지키는 겁니다.
제 샤프 비율은 39-40년간 1.7~2.3 정도 됩니다. 잠을 못 자면 포지션을 잘못 잡았다는 걸 알기 때문이죠.

So let me refine it slightly. My edge is knowing where my personal mental trading limit's are, and sticking to it.
My Sharpe Ratio is 1.7 to 2.3 lifetime of 39-40 years. It's because I know enough about trading to know that if I can not sleep, I should not be in the positions I am in. Which position is another story.

I trade options super conservatively for super slow success.
Considering day trading futures but I have no idea how to look at charts and identify trends in real time. It all just seems so random, and none of the magical indicators are 100% accurate.
Sometimes this stuff seems like rolling dice. Other times it seems like rolling dice with extra steps.
Other times it seems very much possible to make a living clicking a few buttons. If you have this, you found your edge.

기대값(Expected Value)를 찾아보세요. 위험 관리를 일정하게 유지하면 이기는 전략이 지는 전략보다 더 많아져서 결국 이익을 작게라도 내는 결과를 만듭니다. 백테스트, 포워드 테스트, 리스크 관리, 최적 세팅을 고르는 과정이 이 기대값을 만들어낼 수 있지만 장기적으로 하기는 매우 어렵습니다.
그게 있으면 S&P 500 같은 벤치마크와 비교해서 알파(초과수익)를 측정해야 하죠. 그리고 변동성과 리스크 지표인 소르티노, 샤프 비율을 통해 그 엣지가 리스크 대비 가치가 있는지 확인합니다.
또 시장 상황이 바뀌었을 때도 살아남는지 봐야 합니다.
만약 자기 엣지가 뭔지 모른다면 (이걸 물으면 아마 없을 겁니다), 리스크 관리부터 철저히 하는 게 가장 쉽고 효과적인 수익 개선 방법입니다. 그리고 애매한 세팅은 피하세요. 행운을 빕니다.

Look up "Expected Value". It is essentially having a strategy that makes more than it loses over time if you keep risk stable. Back-testing, forward testing, managing risk, and picking the most profitable set up can in theory create this expected value in the markets. It is just very hard to do this long term.
Once you have that then you have to measure it against a benchmark like the S&P 500 to see if you have "Alpha". Then you have volatility and risk ratios like Sortino and Sharpe to find out this edge is actually worth the risk.
You then need to see if it survives different market regimes or if you just blow up when things change.
Most simple and easy way to get better returns if you don't know if you have an edge (you probably don't if you are asking this) is to manage risk until you have enough data to see if you're system is justified. Another way is to pass on "iffy" set ups. Good luck brother.

When I was a losing trader, my charts used to have a bunch of different indicators. Now I only have OHLC bars and I think that helped me become profitable. Charts look so much cleaner and easier to see support and resistance levels.

I think the better question is, how would you define the tools/charts…not to mention the daily levels/support/resistance/volume? Those are all very esoteric, rubber stamped, overly used bullshit terms that can mean thousands of different things to different people.
And candidly, if you have to ask what finding an edge means, I might consider another career path

많은 사람이 자신한테 엣지가 있다고 생각하지만, 약세장이 오면 그렇지 않은 걸 깨닫습니다. 사실 그들은 시장의 상승 흐름을 따라 거래한 것뿐이에요. 좋은 전략이긴 해도 진짜 엣이는 아닙니다.
