First you dont need to be a millionaire to be part of the 1% of successful day traders.
Second, part of the reason its so low is because the bar to day trading is super low. If i wanted to become a doctor or lawyer or some other high income job, i need to spend years of schooling and money to have a chance of making it.
With trading, any smuch can open a robinhood with $200 and start trading options.
If you put the same effort learning to trade the same way you might put effort in becoming a doctor, youd likely still make it.

거의 성공했지만, 전적으로 데이트레이딩만으로는 아니에요. 초반 수입은 대부분 데이트레이딩에서 났고 그 후에는 우리나라에서 환율 덕에 싼값에 소규모 사업을 사는 쪽으로 방향을 바꿨습니다.

Next 40% -> not really profitable but do enough to keep bouncing in and out of drawdowns.
Top 10% -> these are the profitable ones. They’ve got a plan, they take it seriously and the make bank.

Seriously though, werent the studies just looking at profitable traders and not millionaires? Being profitable trading doesnt mean millionaire. I assume the stats end up about the same as W2 workers worth millions vs those that arent.
IMO the most historically significant change going forward will be people with personal trading algos and those who still manually trade. Information and markets are more accessible now, I figure manual trading success rates have gone up very slightly because of that but people are still people, the emotions havent changed. Algos are the game changer and inherently require a different level of strategy breakdown that helps reveal actual long term edge and weaknesses.
