Nothing matters in trading if you don't have an edge. If you don't know if the probabilities are on your side longterm then you are a gambler and not a trader. Your edge is the base that you build everything else upon. Like where should good trading psychology come from if not from the confidence and pride that feel towards your strategy? Edit: It is important to note that finding a reliable and longterm edge is much more difficult than it is portrayed online. Strategies that are shared online have no edge in 99.9% of cases, doesn't matter if you watch free youtube videos or pay for courses. The most reliable way to gain an edge is to collect a ton of knowledge, gain a lot of experience in the market and then build your own strategies based on your conclusions and observations. It takes years and a ton of blood, sweat and tears to get to that point.

Well, you need both. But there’s really no way to verify if you have edge (or refine your strategy to create an edge) if your trade data is a clusterfuck because you aren’t executing consistently. There are a ton of strategies that are barely above breakeven until you refine them. You need discipline to do that. You also need discipline to collect that data and even just to stick to one strategy long enough to get any real insight. Basically you can’t get off the ground to even find an edge until you have some baseline of discipline.

This is very true. Gotta have a system that works first before discipline comes into play. But without discipline, you won't find a system that works.
