몇 년간 직접 키워온 모바일 앱을 25배 매출에 팔라는 제안을 받았는데, 금액이 꽤 높아 고민 중이다. 앱을 계속 보유하며 익숙한 사업을 유지할지, 아니면 AI와 로봇 등 성장 가능성이 큰 주식으로 전환할지 선택이 어렵다. 투자자라면 자신의 목표와 리스크 감내 수준을 고려해 신중한 판단이 필요하다.

몇 년간 직접 만든 모바일 앱 몇 개의 포트폴리오를 꾸준히 키워왔습니다. 그 과정이 쉽지는 않았고, 정서적으로도 애착이 많이 가는 것들이에요. 그런데 최근에 월수익(MRR)의 약 25배인, 총 52만 달러 정도에 판매하라는 제안을 받았습니다.

일반적으로 앱 매출에서는 이렇게 높은 배수가 쉽지 않은데, 솔직히 좀 놀랐어요. 제 개인적으로는 이 현금을 받고 AI와 로봇 관련 주식처럼 앞으로 성장 가능성이 큰 분야에 투자해보고 싶다는 생각도 들고요.

일반 사업체를 팔 때도 보통 연매출의 3배 이상을 받는데, 월매출 기준 25배는 오히려 너무 낮아 보입니다. 요즘 앱들이 워낙 많아서 새로운 앱을 만든다고 성공할 보장도 없고요. 적어도 지금 이 가격에 파는 건 추천하지 않습니다.

even when you sell a regular business (which isn’t as scalable) you pay at least 3x yearly revenue. 25x MRR sounds like very very little.

making other apps will not guarantee that you will see any traction, especially with the recent avalanche of apps.

don’t sell, at least not now and not at this price

모바일 앱 분야는 잘 모르고 주식 관점에서만 말씀드립니다. 1. 현재 재정 상황에 따라 다르겠습니다. 52만 달러가 생활자금인지 투자금인지요? 2. AI/로봇 분야에 대해 구체적인 정보가 있나요, 아니면 단순히 상승세가 계속될 것으로 보여서 투자하실 생각인가요? 3. 시장이 하락장으로 돌아섰을 때 10~20% 손해를 보면서도 믿음을 유지할 준비가 되어 있나요? 회사 상황이 바뀌면 손절도 할 수 있나요? 손실과 이익 시점에서 매도 기준은 무엇인지 고민해 보세요.

Do you have niche info for the AI/robotics or is it just something you’ve seen and think will continue the bull run stocks have been on? 3. Are you mentally prepared to go through a bear market and hole your 520k be down 10-20% during a bear market or more while you still believing in the companies themselves? Also if the company changes are you willing to take a loss if you stop believing in it? What is your point at which you’d sell, both loss wise and profit wise?

25x revenue is an extraordinary valuation, bordering on suspicious.

You have some apps generating $20,800 in revenue annually and someone wants to spend $520,000 on then? It's too good to be true.

Take the offer but be very careful that it's a real exchange. That is nonsensical to me.
